Having trained in sculpture and with a degree in Fine Art I went on to work exclusively in theatre for many years. From the paintshop at Leicester Haymarket to the Edinburgh Festival, all over Germany with bits of France, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain..

My experience of designing sets, props, puppets and effects for shows kept my own work confined to sketchbooks for a long time - until The Castle in Wellingborough let me loose as Artist in Residence and I got to make some crazy sculptures.

Settling in rural Lincolnshire has given me the chance to create a small studio at home where the Paper Creatures were made. Animals have always featured strongly in my work and I like to emphasise the theatricality of my subject matter.

Recycling scrap matter and reinventing mundane objects is also a feature of my work.
